We are excited to welcome Dr. Tim Frederick to Custer School District as our new Superintendent of Schools!
Dr. Frederick comes to CSD having recently served as Superintendent of Schools of the Mobridge-Pollock School District (MPSD) since 2010.
Frederick brings a wealth of experience to the position, with 35 years of experience in K-12 education, with twenty years in administration. From 2004 to 2010, he was the Middle/High School Principal at MPSD. Before his tenure at MPSD, he was a teacher, educator, and coach with the Wessington Springs and West Central school districts.
Supt. Frederick received his Doctor of Education Degree (Ed.D.) in 2021 from the University of South Dakota (USD); Education Specialist Degree in 2010 from U. of Sioux Falls; Master's Degree in Secondary Administration in 2003 from USD; and his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1989 from the University of Mary.
Dr. Frederick describes his leadership style as a servant leader, working alongside people. He stated that he likes to engage school board members, staff, students, and community members while involving and developing positive relationships with all stakeholders. He says he loves to build relationships not only within the school but also outside the school. Any time anything needs to be done in the community, he says he is willing to participate when possible. Dr. Frederick stated he is passionate about seeing that all students have an opportunity to grow. "Schools are not built to take hope away from kids; we are here to instill it."
Dr. Tim Frederick and his wife, Dr. Rhonda Frederick, our new CSD SpEd Director (whom we’ll feature soon), have been married 36 years, and have three adult children and three grandchildren. They enjoy camping and golfing.
Please join us in giving Superintendent Tim Frederick a very warm welcome to our district and community!
