  • Custer School District will remain closed through May 1, per Governor Noem's announcement today (3/24) that all schools in South Dakota should remain closed.  We will continue to post announcements via SchoolMessenger, here and on our Facebook pages.   

     

    Please take time to find out how your school is responding to the integrity of continuing your student's education while we are out of school for an extended period of time.

    Custer SR/JR High has responded with teachers creating an extended series of lessons for students that include online and paper copies. Please communicate with your instructors via email for any further information or questions.

     

    IMPORTANT SCHOOL WORK INFORMATION
    FOR ALL STUDENTS JK-12
    IN HERMOSA & CUSTER

    To all our Jr/Sr High Students & Families ~  Homework Pick-up / Drop-off ~ Thursday, April 2, from 6:30 am – 2:00 pm. -  will pull up in their vehicle in front of the school, and a staff member will take their name and then give their packet to them in the vehicle. All students are required to participate in this distance education in order to meet graduation requirements and/or pass their classes. This is not optional participation. If students do not participate, they may be required to do summer school and possibly even be retained. If you know of someone in need of assistance, please let us know and we can reach out to them.     CUSTER ELEMENTARY

    Thank you to CES parents and families for what you are doing to help your children in this new version of school.  We understand that these are challenging times but appreciate your support in having your children do the work that teachers have prepared.  CES teachers are working hard and will have more work ready for you to pick up from 6:30am-2pm on Thursday, April 2nd.  We are asking you to drop off the completed work at the time you stop to get the new work.  This process will be a drive-up style, like we are doing with the meal deliveries at CES.  Drive up to the west side of CES at Door B. Staff will come to your vehicle to see whose work we need to deliver to your vehicle.  We will bring you the new work and collect the completed work and you can be on your way.  We appreciate your patience as we are delivering work for 300 students.  4th-6th grade work that gets turned in on April 2nd will not be entered into the grade book until after April 10th.  Details of the next planned drop off and pick up on April 16th are pending.  From Principal Paulson 

    We still plan to have a yearbook this year, but with the current situation, the printing will be delayed.  Email  joey.kortemeyer@k12.sd.us if you want to order a yearbook.

     

    HERMOSA STUDENTS

    Hello Hermosa Families ~  Starting April 2nd, we will have weekly homework pick-up and drop off every Thursday from 6:30am to 2pm. All Junior Kindergarten through 5th grade teachers will have the items ready for pick-up and will be expecting homework turned in. The middle school is all online so they will not have the pick-up. Most of our families are working hard with the teachers to educate our students and having wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, we have some who are not participating. We absolutely need every student to participate in the distance learning. If students do not participate, they will be required to do summer school and possibly even be retained.      Free “grab and go” breakfast and lunch” available to CSD K-12 students.

    LSI & CSD – Hermosa School GRAB & GO MEALS  PLAN

    Revised Lunch Schedule - Lunchtime Solutions Inc. and Hermosa School will be distributing free ‘grab & go’ breakfasts and lunches to any of our students (JK-12th grade) who  would like meals this week (March 23 – 26).  The plan is to have drop off points at Hermosa School – at the walking door at 11:30am, Fairburn at the old school at 11:30am, Prairie Winds at 11:00am, R U Mobil at 11:15am, Walnut Grove at 11:30am, Ferguson Development at 11:45am.  We will wait 10-15 minutes at each pick up point to distribute meals.  Students will get a breakfast and lunch each day.  Please understand that adjustments may need to be made as we find the best way to do this for our students.
