ACT Resources

Use this link to register for the ACT®, find dates and deadlines, apply for fee waivers, apply for ACT® My Answer Key, and access free/paid and online/PDF test prep materials.

In 2025, the ACT Test changed from the Legacy Test to the Enhanced Test. The Science Test is now optional and is not included in the Composite Score. The Writing Test is optional, as always.

Registration Information - Includes cost, national test dates and registration deadlines, and a test center locator.

Fee Waiver Program - Students enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade of high school who qualify for free or reduced lunch can obtain a fee waiver for up to two ACT® tests. You also receive free access to a Kaplan ACT® Prep course and a free ACT® My Answer Key (TIR).

Free ACT Practice Tests and Resources - ACT® offers various practice resources, in both online and PDF format.

ACT® My Answer Key - During 3 National Test Dates each year, the ACT® offers students the opportunity to purchase ACT® My Answer Key to see exactly what they got right and wrong. In 2025-26, the Key costs $34 (if purchased prior to the test) and is offered during the October 2025, April 2026, and June 2026 National Test Dates.

SDMyLife -Methodize

Methodize (powered by Xello) is a free ACT® Prep Resource provided by the SD DOE to all SD High School Students. SD students have raised their ACT® score on average by 3 points by studying with Methodize. Once you login to SDMyLife, scroll down and click on the Methodize Log in. You will not actually need to login again.

Under Courses, choose Enhanced ACT®. You will have access to 72 Lessons, 81 Quizzes, Evaluation Tests in each Section, and two full-length practice tests. The Lessons are broken into 18 Units, which contain a lesson on each subject area. However, you can look at the Units and choose which lessons would be most helpful to you.

Magoosh

Magoosh is a subscription ACT® Prep Program. However, the provided link has many free video lessons indicated in blue. Here are a few recommended videos:

English: Commas, Apostrophes, Verb Tenses, Redundant Meanings, Concision and Wordiness

Math: Working with Percents, Ratios and Rates, Writing Equations, Working with Formulas

Reading: Question Types, Basic Strategies

Science: Pacing on the Science Test, Finding Clues in the Answer Choices

Scroll down the SD State Library's Electronic Resources page to find Gale Presents: Peterson's Test Prep. Once you have signed up/logged in, click on Browse Menu, Improve a Test Score, College Prep, and ACT® to access an online course and practice tests.

Use the link above to access the Custer County Library's ACT® Prep Playlist on YouTube. The videos pre-date the Enhanced version of the ACT® Test, but the basic content of the English and Math videos may still be helpful.
