Dual Enrollment allows high school juniors and seniors to enroll in courses at Western Dakota Tech and earn credit for high school graduation as well as postsecondary credit from WDT.

AUTO SERVICE TECHNOLOGY                     Preventative Maintenance/Engine Construction & Operation

This course encompasses the characteristics and benefits of a well-planned maintenance program and will cover the tools and procedures needed to perform a proper preventive maintenance inspection (PMI). As well as, instruct the student on the operation and diagnosis of a four-cycle gasoline automobile engine.

In the first semester, students will learn the proper use of hand and power tools used to repair sheet metal on today’s vehicles. Second semester students will learn proper entry-level procedures for paint gun set-up and control along with paint application on vehicle surface.

HEALTH SCIENCE                      Medical Terminology I/Anatomy & Physiology for the Health Professions

Students will be taught basic techniques of medical word building. The course introduces students to medical terms relating to anatomy and physiology of body systems, pathology, diagnosis, medical treatments and procedures. LAW ENFORCEMENT TECHNOLOGY                                          Criminal Law and Procedures/Corrections

Students will be taught the differences between criminal and civil law process as well as the study of federal, state and local governments and their respective courts. The criminal code, pretrial and post-trial procedures, from a constitutional basis as well as that found in South Dakota Codified Law will be covered. In the second semester, students will be furnished information regarding the system in the U.S. of corrections, parole, and probation.

WELDING                                   Shielded Metal Arc Welding/Shielded Metal Arc Welding Grooved Plate

Shielded Metal Arc Welding classroom theory and skills training will allow students to attain an acceptable level of welding skills.  Equipment safety, setup, operation and maintenances, electrode identification, application and metallurgy are covered for the welding of ferrous metals.  Surface and fillet welds in all positions along with carbon arc gouging and cutting will be taught first semester. During the second semester, grooved plate with backing and open root, in and out of position will be taught.
