CSD Annual District Award Nominations

CSD ANNUAL AWARD NOMINATIONS

Students, parents, community members and CSD staff members are encouraged to submit nominations for the below mentioned awards.

CSD Paraprofessional of the Year Award (paraprofessionals only)

The annual CSD Paraprofessional of the Year Award is a district-wide award, which provides deserved recognition to paraprofessionals, and serves to highlight the positive aspects of their contributions to excellence in education. The Paraprofessional of the Year Award is to honor one who is representative of all the excellent paraprofessionals working for Custer School District.  All paraprofessionals in the district are eligible to be nominated.

CSD Support Staff of the Year Award

The annual CSD Support Staff of the Year Award is a district-wide award, which provides deserved recognition to support staff personnel, and serves to highlight the positive aspects of their contributions to excellence in education. The Support Staff Member of the Year Award is to honor one who is representative of all the excellent support staff working for Custer School District.  Any CSD employee who is not a teacher or paraprofessional is eligible for nomination for this award.

Outstanding Educators of the Year Award from Each Building (classroom teachers only)

The annual CSD Outstanding Educator of the Year Award is a building-wide award, which provides deserved recognition to teaching staff, and serves to highlight the positive aspects of their contributions to excellence in education. The Outstanding Educator of the Year Award is to honor one who is representative of all the excellent teachers working in each building in the Custer School District. One staff member will be selected from each building as the Outstanding Educator of the Year.  One of the three building recipients, will then be chosen as the District’s Teacher of the Year and announced at the Year End Staff Dinner.  Nominations should include specific examples. Some things to consider: the teacher’s methods for meeting student needs; desire for professional growth; community involvement; dedication to the teaching profession; and rapport with students, parents and staff. 

Hermosa School Outstanding Educator of the Year

Custer JH/HS School Outstanding Educator of the Year

Custer Elementary School Outstanding Educator of the Year

Wildcat Award (open to all school personnel or community members)

The purpose of the award is to provide district-wide recognition of a staff member or community member who has provided outstanding support of students, staff or a program in Custer School District.

Golden Apple Award

The Golden Apple Award is presented to a school staff member who has inaugurated a significant curriculum effort that can be adopted by other staff members. The purpose of the award is to provide district-wide recognition of an “instructional” classroom / curriculum project that has significantly and positively contributed to student achievement.

The curriculum program or project nominated should:

*Demonstrate curriculum leadership.

*Have a significant and positive effect on program/project participants.

*Implement new and creative curriculum ideas.

*Have potential for adoption by other staff members.

Little Red School House Award

The Little Red School House Award is presented to a school staff member who has inaugurated a significant innovative program or project that is “non-instructional” (not a teaching program used by a teacher in a classroom) and deserving of district-wide recognition. The major purpose of award is to promote effective innovations that may be adopted by other staff members in the district.

The educational program or project nominated should:

*Demonstrate leadership by a staff member.

*Demonstrate a positive impact/effect on students.

*Be based upon a creative and practical new idea.

*Have potential for implementation by other staff members.

Community Circle for Education Award

The purpose of the Community Circle Award is to recognize both a school staff member and their non-school community partner for their collaboration in implementing a successful program, project, or activity that has generated significant local community involvement and positively impacted the education of children.

 

The staff member/community partnership program nominated should:

*Demonstrate collaboration between the school and community.

*Demonstrate that the program, project, or activity provides a positive and unique educational experience for school children.

Helping Hands Award

The purpose of the Helping Hands Award is to recognize outside agencies, groups, businesses, or individuals who have made a significant contribution to the school district.
The agency, group, business, or person nominated should:

*Demonstrate their advocacy, support and promotion of quality education.
*Exemplify an attitude of assistance and cooperation with the school.


NOMINATION GUIDELINES

Please use the following guidelines when preparing a nomination packet.

There is no limit on the number of nominations a member may submit.

The nomination packet must include a cover page that provides the following information:

Name of school staff member and address.

Name of award for which you are submitting an application.

Name and telephone number of person submitting the nomination.

Signature of Nominator

Packet information must be typed, or computer-printed, on white paper using a font no smaller than 11 point.

Each nomination must include no more than two pages of narrative.

Supplemental information, including photographs, not to exceed two pages, may be attached.

PLEASE take the time and make the effort to nominate that special person(s) who goes “above and beyond” and makes a difference.

Deadline for nominations is Monday, March 27 at 4:30 pm.

 The award recipients will be announced at the Annual CSD Staff Retirement and Recognition Dinner which is held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Laughing Water Restaurant at Crazy Horse Memorial.
